Over Ons
Twenty years ago, James and I met at a small fashion trade show right here in Los Angeles. He had spent years working in menswear. I came from women's fashion. We had completely different wardrobes, but we shared exactly the same belief: that clothing should make people feel comfortable, confident, and truly themselves.
A few months later, we started WardrobeBright from our apartment in Echo Park. Just the two of us, a laptop, and a shared dream. Our kitchen table was the packing station. The closet in the hallway was the stockroom. And our first twenty customers were honestly just friends who felt sorry for us.
We almost quit after the first winter. Sales were slow, rent was due, and James came home one evening and said maybe this isn't working. I understood why he felt that way. But I told him to give it one more month. Because I still believed in what we were doing. In what clothing can mean to a woman on the right day, at the right moment in her life.
That belief kept us going. And it turned out to be right.
Over the years we saw it happen again and again. The outfit worn on a first date. The dress chosen for a family photo. The cozy sweater that got someone through a tough winter. The fresh look that came with a new beginning. Every single order carried a moment. And behind every moment, there was you.
Nearly two decades later, James and I still carry the same passion and gratitude we had on day one. Our collection has grown. Our community has grown. But our dream has never changed.
Timeless clothing. Real confidence. People who feel truly themselves.
Thank you for being part of our story.
With love and gratitude,
Emily & James
